About me
Hi. My name is Sue. I live in Fareham with
my husband and our five children. I also have a step son who
stays with us regularly. Their ages range from nineteen down
to five year old twins. I have breast fed all of them, for
varying times and with varying degrees of success. I’m
43 years young with lots of energy! Please read more about
me below...

I have spent most of my working life in
an office environment, working part time since I had my first
child. This job was unrewarding and uninspiring and really
didn’t suit me at all well. I gave up work after having
my twins as the childcare/salary equation wasn’t favourable.
Now that they are enjoying pre-school I’m finally able
to resume work, but this time to do something wonderful –
be a Doula…..
My own personal experiences of giving birth
are varied but mainly positive. I have given birth naturally
to all my children, both with and without the use of pain
relief. I have had four of my children in hospital and one
in a local maternity home. I have learned a great deal along
the way and indeed a great deal more since becoming a Doula.
I feel that I have a wealth of experience and knowledge to
pass on to fellow women giving birth. I am a firm believer
that giving birth can and should be a wonderfully empowering
experience and that all women are able to achieve this with
the correct information, advice and techniques.
My experiences of the first few weeks at
home with a new baby, (particularly with my first child) were
of feeling like a fish out of water. Equally on having subsequent
children it was hard work keeping up with the demands of the
other children when the new born often needed all of my attention.
This was even more of a test when I found myself with twins!
Fortunately for me my Mum was able to help enormously at that
time. These feelings of inadequacy are not uncommon. I now
know how different things could have been if I’d had
a Doula to help.
